Acoustic installation at The Plough Brewery Tap – Wistanstow
An acoustic installation for Wood’s Brewery: The owners and landlords of this delightful country pub carried out an extensive refurbishment of their premises in Shropshire. Whilst pleasing on the eye and welcoming, feedback from customers and staff often pointed out the poor acoustics within the space
In the designers’ words on his initial brief to us – ‘This new design has removed all the old soft furnishings, carpets and curtains etc., and we now have a loud space which is affecting the customer’s experience’
As part of our free service, we visited the pub and carried out a full survey to ascertain not only what the exact problem was, but also how we solve the issue
Once we knew what was needed, we were able to liaise with the interior designer, and the client themselves, to come up with a design that not just cured the poor acoustics, but also sympathetically blended into, and even added to, the aesthetic of the room. This is one of the major benefits of having a free survey before any acoustic installation work begins
The client chose to use a variety of materials –
Ecophon Solo Panels, printed with Atkinson Acoustiprint ® – These were printed with images showing the various stages of the brewing process, and placed in the order of that process around the dining area
Ecophon Solo Panels, in standard white – Fitted in the bar area, where panels were needed but the brewery wanted to keep them discreet
Autex Quietspace Panels, wrapped in Autex Vertiface Fabric – In addition to the printed panels in the dining area, these were wrapped in a fabric, the colour of which was chosen to complement Wood’s Brewery’s livery, and installed at strategic locations to the walls and ceilings
The effect was immediate and exactly what our delighted client had hoped for!
