Heradesign Suspended Ceiling Installation
When difficult and intricate design details are specified, we believe it is key to have early specialist sub-contractor involvement. At Wellington Place 7&8 in Leeds we were contacted at an early stage in our long site programme and invited to attend design team meetings with the architect and Main Contractor to discuss a particular area specified with Knauf Heradesign ceiling panels and bespoke lighting troughs for a bespoke heradesign suspended ceiling installation
The Heradesign panels were shown deliberately intersected with randomly set-out lighting troughs. This created a unique design challenge, first of all how we install the Heradesign system in such random shaped zones and how we would construct the lighting trough to the bespoke dimensions required by the architect.
Heradesign offered the correct level of information at an early stage and this became the basis of our design discussions. Once this installation method was established with colours and edge details clarified we moved our attentions to the bespoke lighting trough detail. With metal ceiling systems and components we always turn to our trusted partners at SAS Ceilings who have shown over many years that they can provide design assistance to solve technical challenges as well as offer on the ground help in site and design team meetings. Although the architects original design showed lighting troughs with intersections having closed ends, we believed we could improve this and getting SAS ceilings involved early proved to be the defining factor in this design. With their help we quickly established how the lighting trough could be constructed in 3 sections to provide an uninterrupted channel for the installation of the lights. By mixings various pre-existing SAS components including black perforated SAS System 330 C profiles and brackets and SAS deep aluminium angles in a matching finish we were able to construct the troughs systematically and within the strict set-out parameters.
Many difficult mitres and junctions followed but our talented installation team overcame the many issues to handover a very uniqueceiling that will provide a talking point for many years to come. This heradesign suspended ceiling installation has been a talking point at site, and will no doubt continue to be so once open to the new occupants.
